SAN CLEMENTE, Calif., April 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — Sovereign Health of El Paso, a leading national provider of behavioral health treatment services, is pleased to announce a ribbon-cutting ceremony with Anthony J. Mele, Psy.D., Chief Clinical Officer at Sovereign Health, who will also be providing a presentation for a continuing education course. The ribbon-cutting ceremony is being hosted by the Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce.

Motivational interviewing is a specific form of psychotherapy that facilitates the client’s intrinsic motivation to change behavior. As a therapeutic technique, it provides a goal-oriented, client-centered counseling style that elicits behavior change by helping clients to explore and resolve the ambivalence that impedes decision-making. Clients with drug and alcohol problems, or highly defensive clients, are among those who benefit from this techniques. The presentation will identify the cognitive skills pre-requisites for successful use of motivational interviewing.
